Danny Kinahan MLA is one of our Assembly signatories for this event and the Institute of Consulting in Northern Ireland would like to thank him and his fellow Assembly signatories for making the Long Gallery available for this event.
Danny was born in Belfast in 1958, and joined the British Army in 1977 whilst studying at university in Edinburgh. He has been a member of the Ulster Unionist Party since 1998 and was a member of Antrim Borough Council from 2005 to 2011.
He stood unsuccessfully for the UUP in South Antrim in the Assembly Election of 2007 where he failed in an attempt to hold the party’s second seat behind former MP for the area David Burnside.
Danny replaced David Burnside as the UUP MLA for South Antrim in June 2009 when Burnside stepped down from the Assembly.
In the 2011 Assembly elections, Kinahan was successfully re-elected as an MLA for South Antrim. Kinahan was appointed Chair of the Audit Committee in May 2011 and is Deputy Chair of the Education Committee.
Danny has a strong interest in the fine arts.
He has worked for Christie’s Auctioneers and Shorts Aerospace.
He manages Castleupton Art Gallery in Templepatrick.
